TeamBRD Racing is a family operated kart racing team facilitating the adrenaline production and racing spirit of the Siegel name. What began as a fun weekend distraction soon turned into a serious addiction, and you'll be sure to find the token BRD falcon flying strong at every possible race meet.

Our primary driver is Jared Siegel. Jared is currently pursuing his degree at the University of Minnesota in Aerospace Engineering. Despite the constant flurry of equations, streamlines, and numerical analyses, he's always happy to bin the academia and talk track.

Jared started karting at 13 years old with a 4-cycle Kohler engine at the local club scene. He spent 3 years competing in that class, two seasons enrolled in a competitive championship (2002 & 2003), and the final being an exhibition at a new facility (2004). He finished 2nd in the rankings in 2002 and won the championship in 2003. He amassed 70 victories, qualifiers and features, throughout those 3 years. By the end of 2004, it became apparent that the speed and lateral G's of the Kohler were no longer enough to feed the need.

In 2005, he had his first competitive season in a TaG class at USA International Raceway, one of the premier karting facilities in the nation. It's challenging combination of corner radii and undulations provide a fantastic training ground, leaving a driver capable of any sort of circuit. Utilizing a Rotax FR125 engine, he managed to win the championship. He also raced within the WKA's Midwest Sprint Series, and conducted a test with a Rotax RM1.

2006 proved to be more difficult, as a nagging mechanical issue severely hindered pace as the season went on. He still managed to win 50% of the races, however he had to end early in August and head to college at the University of Minnesota: Twin-Cities for a degree in Aerospace Engineering. Regardless of the sour taste, 2006 proved to be a year of learning and development. As the challenges of chassis balance and setup showed their worth and the commitment to succeed tested, the experiences of 2006 would prove invaluable in the coming years.

In both 2007 and 2008 he qualified and competed in the Rotax Grand National Events in Denver, Colorado and Shawano, Wisconsin, respectively. In 2007 he experienced electrical problems. However, in 2008 the results were favorable. Being a one-man team, he was able to compete with the large factory teams and give them a "run for their money".

2009 could best be described as a rebuilding year for Jared. We at TeamBRD hate to be cliche, but the economic downturn was hard to avoid, and it sorely affected the opportunities to race on a national and professional scale. That's okay, though, as it only made Jared push harder in physical and mental preparation. 2009 was a year that makes a guy respect where he's been.

Enough of the somber Jerry Bruckheimer hero speech. The few times Jared got to race, he pulled every bit out of it. Lots of duels with fellow racers kept him keen to move forward and up. Driven and focused as ever, Jared hopes 2010 can act as a catalyst for a new era.

Jared's not the only racer in the family. Scott, (Dad), also enjoy's his hands at the wheel. Scott loves the feel of the Honda OHV engine and races in the Masters class. In addition to racing, Scott is the "Head Mechanic" of the team. What would we do without him?
